OBJECTIVE: Kids will identify things they can give up to live a life that honors Christ.

IN THE CAR: Ask your child what they learned about this week on the drive home:
People spend lots of time, money, and effort to live a long life free from care and worry.
But in the Upside Down Life: in order to have a life worth living, we have to lay down our
life for Jesus – the one who laid down his life for us first. Mark 8:34-38, The Way of the
Cross

HANGING OUT: Make this week’s lesson real:
Ask your kids if there’s something they want to give up or get rid of so they can grow
closer to God and help them make that happen.

AT DINNER: Here are some great discussion starters:
- What does Jesus mean when He says to take up our cross?
- How can we gain new life by losing our lives for Jesus?
- What is one thing you want to give up so you can grow closer to Jesus?

AT BEDTIME: Quiz your child on this week’s memory verse:
“The heavens are higher than the earth. And my ways are higher than your ways. My
thoughts are higher than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:9 (NIrV)

PARENT TIME: What you need to know:
Jesus saved our lives by losing His. If we lose our lives, laying down our selfishness and
sin, we will gain new life. Pray that all of our kids will make the choice to receive Jesus
as their Savior and take up their cross daily to follow Him.

In week three of “Everyday Armor,” kids will learn in week three of “Everyday Armor,” that sometimes it can be scary to do what’s right. But God has given us the Armor of Godliness to protect us and help us to do the right thing!
As your child watches this video, we want them to have fun and learn about Jesus on their level. We love to bring stories from the Bible to life because we want your child to know that it is the most amazing book that’s ever been written!

woman put in only two small coins. Yet Jesus declared that she had given more than

- Why is how we give more important than how much we give?
- What are some creative ways we can give to God?
